KPop hits the world!

So Kpop is really becoming a hit wave in the Philippines. It's not only dominating here in my country but all over Asia, USA and other European countries. Try to visit Youtube and watch a popular Kpop music videos from artists (to name a few) such as Super Junior, SHINee, TVXQ, Girls' Generation, BEAST, f(X), SECRET, etc. ( Select a video that has the highest number of views) At the right bottom corner of the vid. beside the no. of views you'll see a small square there, hit it and it will now show you the statistics of the video; questions like 'what countries views it the most?' is answered by that info. So if a new Kpop MV has been released I always check its statistical informations and the first time I did it, I was a little bit shocked of what I saw. The No Other MV of Super Junior is popular in Canada, Australia and the USA. You can also see in Youtube the different people doing a cover song of their favorite Kpop songs, not only Asians but also Caucasian and black-American people. That's how popular KPop is!

Super Junior created hits such as Sorry Sorry, Bonamana, It's You, No Other (Even the inmates in Cebu even danced Bonamana)

BEAST: Beautiful, Shock, Bad Girl
2PM: Without You, I'll Be Back

TVXQ: Mirotic, Rising Sun, Hug, The Way U are

Girls' Generation who's responsible for hits such as Gee,
Genie (Tell Me Your Wish), Hoot, Oh!, Run Devil Run

4Minute: I My Me Mine, Muzik, HUH
Now I'm riding the wave...I've been hit by what they call it, the Hallyu Wave (or Korea fever refers to the significantly increased popularity of South Korean culture around the world.) I've been into Kpop for almost two years now. Honestly speaking, I don't listen to OPM anymore or any English foreign songs, my playlist on my mobile phone is purely KPOP, that's how I am addicted to it now. But what really makes Kpop travel across overseas despite the language barrier? I mean they're singing in Korean and personally I don't understand the lyrics. When I sing Kpop, my friends would ask me, "What kind of song was that?!!", "There she goes again, singing alien song.."Well I just ignore them. But before I liked Kpop music, I'm into Japanese songs, mostly are opening/ending songs from Anime series I watch. Actually I am more engross with the beat and melody of the song not with the lyrics, that's why I would like a song even if it has a different language.  Maybe, one factor why Kpop is popular is the artists itself who is performing the song. Korean pop artists are undeniably beautiful and handsome looking. Not all but almost all of them. What I mean is that they are being dressed and presented nicely by their agencies. From head to toe, their make ups, outfits, quality music videos and most especially the talent they've got. The talent they own from birth is being developed through long years of training at their agencies. Before becoming an idol extensive training is bestowed to them for about two to seven years. So when they are prepared to debut onstage, overflowing talent arises. Koreans are very dedicated in every thing they do, it's one of their characteristics. Kpop is being supported by their government, the Entertainment industry in Korea is given an importance. Of course, the government must do so! Recently on surveys, tourists who visit South Korea has doubled for the past few years because many foreigner fans are coming to concerts & fan meetings of their idols. You would see in Youtube some blond-haired youngsters doing a song covers and dances of different Kpop songs.

When you listen to Kpop, you also embrace Korean culture, from the language to the way they dress. That's why Kpop conventions are being held here for Filipino Kpop fans, to cater their passion for Korean culture.
This is the first Kpop convention I've attended together with my bestfriend! My bestfriend is not a Kpop fan but an Anime fan..however she seemed  that she enjoyed the event too. ^_^
Some anti-Kpop people would call us "Kimchi wannabe". Well, in my opinion, it's not that when you like Kpop and Korean culture you are abandoning the Filipino culture. Does that mean also that when you sing English pop songs you're abandoning our culture? It's not that! Right? We just want to learn other country's culture! We are just amaze at how Korea retains their customs in such artistic way. Sometimes I ask myself, how come that Korea and Japan have preserved their culture? On the other side, Filipino culture have been deteriorating as time goes by. Those people who don't know how to respect other people's interest are just feeble-minded.

My Korean fandom started from the Korean drama "My Girl". "I want to go to South Korea someday.." that's what I'd been dreaming since the day I finished watching that drama. There were lots of things to learn about their culture, their love for their country, being close to nature, how did they preserve their rich culture...So when I finish college, I promised to myself that I will work and save money for a trip to Korea. I hope that in the future I will find a good job to provide for my needs especially for my fandom...hahaha. If God would allow me...

South Korea, just wait for me. I'll visit you soon...

NOTE: Sorry for my bad English.
